Deep Thoughts & Nerdy Distractions

Some weeks, the world feels like a mess, and honestly, so does my brain. Right now, I’m grappling with a lot—frustration, uncertainty, and a deep desire to do something meaningful.

This all reminds me why I built my business in the first place: to create a space where values, action, and community intersect while helping me build a thriving life for me and my clients.

So today, I’m sharing what’s been on my mind, how I’m turning those thoughts into action, and a small-but-mighty tweak that could make your business life easier.

Brain Dump: What’s on My Mind

Unfortunately, what’s on my mind is the dumpster fire that is our government right now and what the next 4 years will be like. In 2016, I was mad and motivated. This year, I feel defeated and hopeless (most of the time).

The recent Feminist Founders Community Call did help me feel a tad bit more positive. Or more like it reminded me that I see my business as a political act (I talk about that more on this episode of Big Brave Business).

I walked away from that session with this…

I believe in a world...

  • where all people have the resources, opportunities, and power to thrive
  • where the planet and its inhabitants are held as sacred
  • where the words “because its always been that way” are not accepted
  • where individuality and community are in supportive balance

My business can help create the world I envision by…

  • leading with my values
  • supporting underrepresented communities with my voice, money, and time
  • rejecting harmful practices and paradigms
  • embracing the uniqueness of my clients and collaborators
  • holding space for connection, curiosity, and compassion

Now, I need to put action behind those words.

Lastly, here’s my January 2025 Business Review.

Because I will be landing in your inbox 3 times a week now, I won’t be sending these reviews as separate emails. Instead, I’ll share them in the Wednesday Newsletter (Chat GPT and I are still working on an official name).

And as a reminder…

  • Mondays will be system and business tips
  • Wednesdays will be a traditional newsletter like this
  • Fridays will be more of a sales email

The Geeky Spotlight: What I’m Nerding Out On

My partner showed his love for me by sitting down and watching ALL 15 seasons of Supernatural. Now he’s moved on to Lucifer. He’s obviously committed to making this work.

To show him how much I adore and appreciate him, I watched season 1 of Altered Cardon and am now watching The Expanse. Happy with both.

And we both enjoyed a good rewatching (for probably the 20th time) of Underworld this past weekend. And ready to watch the entire franchise (again).

As for books, I just finished Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) by J.R. Ward because friends raved about it. Sadly, I gave it 2.5 stars. Which is weird since it’s vampires and romantasy. Time to hit Booktok for some recommendations (unless you have one you’d like to share).

Collaborator Spotlight: Meet an Incredible Human

Because no one builds great things alone.

I’m excited to share a new section on my website called Favorites. I’m sharing my favorite places to hang out and connect with other online business owners, my favorite podcasts, AND the online service providers and coaches I trust and recommend (there's still a few to add, so keep checking the page).
